This synthesis route, typically carried out in batch reactors like autoclaves, takes a time so long (typically, on the order of days) that the crystallization of zeolites had long been believed to be very slow in nature. Long periods of hydrothermal treatment also cause a burden on both energy efficiency and operational costs. Recently, we have reported the ultrafast syntheses of a class of industrially important zeolites within several minutes.[1,2] Further shortening the crystallization time to the order of seconds would be a great challenge but can significantly benefit the mass product of zeolites as well as the fundamental understanding of the crystallization mechanism.Item Open Access Control of porphyrin dye aggregation using bis(4-pyridyl)alkane spacers in dye sensitized solar cells(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems. Moreover, dye aggregation may cause increased charge recombination with dye cation...Item Open Access Convenience of Efficiency Measures applied to Envelop of Laboratory Facility located in Burabai, Kazakhstan(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems. Institute of Batteries LLP, Nazarbayev University, and PI “National Laboratory Astana”., 2018-08-08) Khamedov, Ruslan; Krymov, Dulat; Rojas-Solórzano, Luis RA large portion of primary energy consumption in the world is associated to building sector; i.e. residential sector. Most studies agree on blaming space heating-cooling as the main reason of such high consumption, especially enhanced by excessive heat losses through windows and walls. Despite it is well known that proper selection of wall insulation and windows may minimize this issue, an economic assessment is needed to demonstrate the viability on a case-by-case basis. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to assess the techno-economic viability of using higher thermal-resistance insulation and windows instead of ordinary planned ones for an environmental laboratory, which will located in the region of Borovoe, Kazakhstan.Item Open Access Dead-core solutions to simple catalytic reaction problems in chemical engineering(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems. Institute of Batteries LLP, Nazarbayev University, and PI “National Laboratory Astana”., 2018-08-08) Sabit, F.; Shakipov, M.; Skrzypacz, Piotr; Golman, BThe diffusion-reaction problems with non-Lipschitz kinetics can exhibit dead-cores whose location is of big importance in chemical reactor engineering [1,2]. Recently, core-shell catalysts have been successfully applied for industrially important reactions such as Fischer-Tropsch [3] and steam methane reforming for hydrogen production [4]. In the discussed simplified diffusion-reaction problem we encounter a nonlinear term of power-law type which represents a strong absorption due to the catalytic reaction. We present the ways how to calculate the exact solutions possessing dead-cores and their numerical approximations based on collocation method in the case of plain, spherical and cylindrical geometries [5].Item Open Access Definition of terms of reference mean power satellites power system(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems. Institute of Batteries LLP, Nazarbayev University, and PI “National Laboratory Astana”., 2018-08-08) Ablayeva, K.; Abduakhytova, D; Lepikhin, MRecently, considerable efforts of specialists in the field of power sources are aimed at research on fully 3D microbatteries. The key advantage of a 3D microbattery is the higher surface area as compared to a planar film that allows for increased contact area with the electrolyte and more surface sites available for reversible reactions with lithium ions. This in turn leads to improved battery kinetics and increased power density while maintaining a small areal footprint. This peculiarity of the battery design can be provided by the use of 3D structured cathode/anode materials, the most attractive of which are highly ordered nanotubes (NTs) made of titanium dioxide with high capacity at fast charge and discharge rates and excellent long-term cycling characteristics. Apart from this crucial result, key to the successful fabrication of a full solid state microbattery is the conformal deposition of electrolyte on the self-supported electrode material to preserve the 3D architecture.Item Open Access Distorted Orthorhombic Type Na-Mn-O Cathode Materials(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems, 2018-08-08) Myung, Seung-TaekLithium resource is not abundant element and unevenly distributed in earth. Institute of Batteries LLP, Nazarbayev University, and PI “National Laboratory Astana”., 2018-08-08) Yermukhambetova, Assiya; Berkinova, Zhazira; Golman, BorisIn lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries, during discharge, there is a significant morphology change as solid sulfur (S) gets dissolved and undergoes successive reduction and finally precipitates as lithium sulfide (Li2S) in porous cathode [1]. This also leads to volume change of the electrolyte in the pore space attributed to precipitation/dissolution of the solid sulfur phase. Moreover, due to the changes in the pore volume coming from the hydrostatic pressure induced by the electrolyte, the cathode microstructure shrinks or swells to accommodate these changes [2]. This leads to mechanical degradation of the electrode over cycling. Thus, the electrochemical performance of lithium sulfur battery is strongly affected by the microstructure of S electrode.Item Open Access Efficiency of carbon layer growth in Li4Ti5O12/C composites studied by XPS and Raman spectroscopy(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems. Institute of Batteries LLP, Nazarbayev University, and PI “National Laboratory Astana”., 2018-08-08) Kopishev, Eldar; Suleimenov, Ibrahim; Syzdykov, Askar; Safarov, Ruslan; Mashan, Togzhan; Berdenov, ZharasExtending the list of the physical and chemical processes applicable for making electric current accumulators allows expanding the sources of raw material for the production of this category of goods. Vanadium is a promising alternative to lithium. In this paper, we describe the generation of an electric current in the dissolution of gels based on vanadium (V) oxide. It was shown that an electrochemical cell having the properties of a battery of electric energy can be produced by using decavanadic acid gel and hydroxide solution. In particular, it was theoretically established that a sample of a gel that passed into a collapsed state under the influence of a constant electric current has an ability to generate an electric current in a closed galvanic circuit after an external current source was disconnected. The gel was grown from an aqueous solution of vanadium (V) oxide. The dependence of the amperage in the external circuit on time is shown, the starting value of the discharge current J0 is indicated. During the experiments, the generation of current was also studied by placing the gel sample into the solutions of other substances, as well as into the distilled water. It was found that in acid solutions and pure water, the efficiency of the current generation is very low (the current values obtained do not exceed the sensitivity limit of the microammeter). The generation of current becomes effective only by placing the gel in an alkali solution.
