What are the determinants of household waste separation in Astana?

Abstract

Our paper examines the determinants of Astana residents’ waste separation awareness level, particularly focusing on the factors that influence households’ waste separation decisions and increase their willingness to recycle. We used a door-to-door survey with 150 respondents from three districts of Astana to obtain information on the awareness level of households on waste separation, their willingness-to-recycle, the socioeconomic characteristics that influence households’ decision to recycle, and the attitudes of the respondents towards waste management. In order to identify the determinants of awareness about waste separation in Astana we used a logit regression analysis.
