An interview with Do Coyle: from the 4 Cs framework to pluriliteracies. Revista TECLA.

Abstract

In this interview, Do Coyle reflects on how the original 4 Cs model of CLIL—Content, Cognition, Communication, Culture—has evolved into a broader pluriliteracies approach. She explains how pluriliteracies supports deeper learning across languages and cultures, informs school policy design, and reshapes pedagogical practices. Expanding on her leadership in the ECML Graz Group, Coyle outlines how teachers and educators can transition from implementing rigid CLIL frameworks to embracing integrated meaning-making and translanguaging strategies.
