Physical activity has been shown to induce the expression of a wide range of genes, thereby altering the function of the musculoskeletal system. The changes often occur through genetic and epigenetic alterations occurring in the coding and promoter regions of different genes, respectively, and can alter (increase or decrease) the expression of different genes. Although several studies have analyzed genetic changes in response to short-term physical activity, the differences in gene expression associated with long-term physical activity as compared to physical inactivity (sedentary lifestyle) are poorly understood. This study aims to analyze gene expression network that is differentially expressed in physically active individuals compared to sedentary individuals, within a muscle cell line model.
