Abstract:
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Treating cancer has become of great interest.
Different approaches have been suggested in this purpose. Current techniques usually employ
massive apparatus or resection. Thermal ablation is known as a promising technique which allows to
treat tumors in minimally invasive way. In contrast to standard treatment, thermal therapy is
associated with smaller equipment. Thermal therapy executes different energy sources as
radiofrequency (RF), microwave (MW), laser, or photothermal ablation. Nanomaterials are known to
enhance effect of this therapy. Current methods employ different coatings and combinations of
nanomaterials. This research investigates effect of concentration and size of nanoparticles on RFA
and MWA, respectively. It was found that presence of AuNPs contribute to increase of ablation area
and more uniform heating in RFA.
