Item Open Access Influence of plasma exposure on physical characteristics of thin films of SnO2 obtained from SnCl4 solutions with additives of NH4F and NH4OH(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems. Institute of Batteries LLP, Nazarbayev University, and PI “National Laboratory Astana”., 2018-08-08) Mukhamedshina, D.M.; Fedosimova, A. I.; Dmitrieva, E.A.; Lebedev, I. A.; Grushevskaya, E. A.; Ibraimova, S.A.; Mit, K.A.; Serikkanov, A.S.The electrical conductivity of tin dioxide is extremely sensitive to the state of the surface in the temperature range 300-800 K, at which oxidation-reduction reactions take place on its surface. Nanocrystalline films of tin dioxide are selectively sensitive to the presence of toxic gases, organic and certain biological molecules in the surrounding atmosphere [1]. SnO2-based films are also used as transparent conductive coatings [2]. To modify the properties of the films, alloying, heat treatment, plasma treatment is used.Item Open Access Electric Current Generation in the System Polyelectrolyte Gel of V2O5 – Solution(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems. Institute of Batteries LLP, Nazarbayev University, and PI “National Laboratory Astana”., 2018-08-08) Kopishev, Eldar; Suleimenov, Ibrahim; Syzdykov, Askar; Safarov, Ruslan; Mashan, Togzhan; Berdenov, ZharasExtending the list of the physical and chemical processes applicable for making electric current accumulators allows expanding the sources of raw material for the production of this category of goods. Vanadium is a promising alternative to lithium. In this paper, we describe the generation of an electric current in the dissolution of gels based on vanadium (V) oxide. It was shown that an electrochemical cell having the properties of a battery of electric energy can be produced by using decavanadic acid gel and hydroxide solution. In particular, it was theoretically established that a sample of a gel that passed into a collapsed state under the influence of a constant electric current has an ability to generate an electric current in a closed galvanic circuit after an external current source was disconnected. The gel was grown from an aqueous solution of vanadium (V) oxide. The dependence of the amperage in the external circuit on time is shown, the starting value of the discharge current J0 is indicated. During the experiments, the generation of current was also studied by placing the gel sample into the solutions of other substances, as well as into the distilled water. It was found that in acid solutions and pure water, the efficiency of the current generation is very low (the current values obtained do not exceed the sensitivity limit of the microammeter). The generation of current becomes effective only by placing the gel in an alkali solution.Item Open Access Synthesis of WS2 crystals by the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method on a SiO2 substrate(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems. Institute of Batteries LLP, Nazarbayev University, and PI “National Laboratory Astana”., 2018-08-08) Shaikenova, Altynay; Beissenov, Renat; Muratov, DaurenThe synthesis and characterization of WS2 single crystals grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method thru sulfurization of tungsten oxide thin layer on quartz substrate was studied. Synthesis of WS2 was carried out at 800-1000 °C in CVD system. The sulphur vapor is transported by argon gas (500 sccm). Obtained WS2 single crystals characterized by optical microscope, Raman and photoluminescence analysis. Optical microscope analysis demonstrated that triangular WS2 domains with single phase crystal structure are formed. The thickness of WS2 is 6 layers, which determined by Raman spectroscopy. Photoluminescence spectroscopy is shown on Fig. 20, which revealed a strong peak between 600-660 nm, typically for a monolayer WS2 crystal, where the band gap is equal to 1.96 eV.Item Open Access Efficiency of carbon layer growth in Li4Ti5O12/C composites studied by XPS and Raman spectroscopy(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems. Institute of Batteries LLP, Nazarbayev University, and PI “National Laboratory Astana”., 2018-08-08) Dobri, Adam; Zeinula, Aizhan; Papathanasiou, T.D.Many practical problems in engineering occur over time and length scales that differ by many orders of magnitude. This makes the application of direct numerical approaches for the prediction of their response impractical. One such class of systems involves heterogeneous porous media in which small spherical porous particles are dispersed within a larger porous domain. We are interested in investigating such systems in which diffusional and convective transport in the continuous phase are coupled with diffusion and reaction/immobilization within the micro-scale inclusions; we develop multi-scale models which enable the prediction of the transient response of such systems taking into account, in a rigorous manner, the transport and reaction at the micro-scale. Immobilized bioreactors [1], ground-water or hydrocarbon flow in fractured rock [2] and ion diffusion in Li-ion batteries [3] are all potential systems of interest.Item Open Access Titanium Based Catalyst Systems for Photo-catalytic CO2 Reduction(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems. Institute of Batteries LLP, Nazarbayev University, and PI “National Laboratory Astana”., 2018-08-08) Ablayeva, K.; Abduakhytova, D; Lepikhin, MRecently, considerable efforts of specialists in the field of power sources are aimed at research on fully 3D microbatteries. The key advantage of a 3D microbattery is the higher surface area as compared to a planar film that allows for increased contact area with the electrolyte and more surface sites available for reversible reactions with lithium ions. This in turn leads to improved battery kinetics and increased power density while maintaining a small areal footprint. This peculiarity of the battery design can be provided by the use of 3D structured cathode/anode materials, the most attractive of which are highly ordered nanotubes (NTs) made of titanium dioxide with high capacity at fast charge and discharge rates and excellent long-term cycling characteristics. Apart from this crucial result, key to the successful fabrication of a full solid state microbattery is the conformal deposition of electrolyte on the self-supported electrode material to preserve the 3D architecture.Item Open Access Preparation of high performance micro- and mesoporous carbon-based sorbents from rice husk and walnut shell(The 6th International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems.
