dc.description.abstractWater security has been widely discussed as one of the security risks because of global warming, population growth, intense industrialization, growing water scarcity, and rapid urbanization. Water security was always crucial for Central Asia countries sharing one of the complex transboundary river basins because of the uneven distribution of surface water resources and interconnected water infrastructure. Water security challenges escalated after the dissolution of the USSR because of regional fragmentation causing disputes on water allocation in transboundary rivers of the Aral Sea basin....en_US
