Abstract

This article explores the development and study of linguistic terminology in Kazakh and Turkish languages, tracing its historical formation, scholarly contributions, and comparative perspectives. Beginning with the foundational role of A. Baitursynuly in establishing Kazakh linguistic terminology, the paper reviews subsequent lexicographic and terminological works by I. Kenesbayev, T. Zhanuzakov, G. Kaliyev, S. Amanzholov, and others. It highlights challenges in terminology creation, such as inconsistent usage, reliance on foreign borrowings, and lack of standardized definitions. Comparative analysis with Turkish terminology reveals differences in adaptation strategies: while Soviet-era Turkic languages often adopted European terms via Russian, Turkish scholars emphasized phonological adaptation and native derivation. The study also examines Mehmet Kahraman’s periodization of Turkish terminology, showing its evolution from classical borrowing to national term creation. Special attention is given to the need for unified Turkic terminological resources, as emphasized by scholars like S. Äliszhanov and Ä. Qaidarov. The article concludes that compiling comprehensive explanatory dictionaries of Kazakh, Turkish, and broader Turkic linguistic terms remains an urgent task, essential for advancing comparative linguistics, translation, and academic communication. Мақала мазмұны қазақ және түрік тіл білімінде лингвистикалық терминдердің зерттелуін қамтиды. Екі тіл білімінің даму барысы тарихпен байланыстырыла отырып сөз болады.
