Stroke is a non-communicable disease, which causes death and morbidity worldwide with 68 per cent incidence of the ischemic stroke and 32 per cent incidence of hemorrhagic stroke (intracerebral haemorrhage and subarachnoid haemorrhage combined) (Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, 2018). In Kazakhstan stroke is both the second leading cause of premature death and loss of disability-adjusted life years ("Kazakhstan", 2017). The condition causes a broad umbrella of complications including deep vein thrombosis, seizures, pneumonia, cognitive decline, depression, cerebral oedema, bladder problems, pressure sores, neurologic deficits and contractures (Oliveira Filho & T Mullen, 2019).en_US
