This research addresses the issue of graduates who are not employed in their university specialization. The study aims to explore why graduates choose another employment area and identify the factors that prevent them from getting a job according to diploma major. The study gathered information to determine whether the graduate student could be effectively employed and meet labor market demand. According to the results of 2018 by the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs (Atameken, 2018), about sixty percent of university graduates can not secure an employment after graduation in their speciality. Experts attribute this to the oversupply of graduates in the labor market. In addition, the growing demand for the level of training by employers does not correspond to the professional qualities of specialists. As a result, graduates often work in fields far connected to their specializations. This study was conducted using a qualitative method, which allowed for an in-depth understanding of the process and determined participants' perceptions of the journey to obtaining a job after graduation. The findings suggest that there are challenges related to employment processes such as high requirements, salary level, and working conditions that force most young people to have higher education but work in another sphere. Also, findings revealed that there are 'skills mismatch' and mental health issues that significantly affect the situation in addition to employment challenges.
