| dc.description.abstract | Giant cell hepatitis is common in pediatric liver diseases but uncommon in adults (~100 cases in two decades). Structured PubMed/MEDLINE review (1963–Dec 2012) of postinfantile giant cell hepatitis (PIGCH). Condition likely due to idiosyncratic/cytopathic response to various hepatocytic stimuli; histomorphological diagnosis without established etiology. Autoimmune liver diseases most common (~40%); viruses, drugs, post-transplant and other causes reported. Prognosis depends on etiology. | en |
