dc.description.abstractHigher education in Tajikistan has undergone substantial changes over the past 25 years as a result of internal crises and the broader transitions across Newly Independent States (1991–2015). The chapter examines the evolution of the system regarding institutional growth, diversification, and macro‑policy developments. Key drivers include the expansion from transformed Soviet institutes and newly established institutions, mass creation of programs amid demand for knowledge-based economy education, Bologna Process reforms, and regional internationalization via bilateral agreements. The analysis draws from official statistics, legislative documents, international reports, media sources, and qualitative interviews conducted between 2011 and 2014.
