International financial institutions (IFIs), such as the World Bank, play a significant role in world development. The World Bank’s global agenda on ending poverty through the implementation of various development projects has been present in Kazakhstan over almost two decades. Even though Kazakhstan is a relatively young developing Central Asian state, it has been cooperating with the World Bank since 1992, and, so far, forty seven World Bank projects were implemented in Kazakhstan (World Bank 2016b). However, the data shows that not all projects are successful, and projects have different outcomes.ru_RU
