Abstract

Background: The safety and effectiveness of the uterine artery embolization (UAE) for the treatment of fibroid and postpartum hemorrhage are proven; however, reproductive outcomes after the procedure is still controversial. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of uterine artery embolization on ovarian reserve of premenopausal women. Methods: We searched for relevant articles in PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Cyberleninka for randomized and non-randomized controlled trials, cohort and case control studies where premenopausal women were recruited eligible for UAE. The CRD’s guidance for undertaking reviews in health care and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA statement) were used in order to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis. Risk of bias was assessed by the Cochrane risk of bias assessment tool or by the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS).
