| dc.description.abstract | This short chapter analyzes the competitive dynamics between the Northern and Southern Silk Road routes during the 14th–15th centuries under Timur (Tamerlane). It examines geopolitical factors like Mongol-era connectivity, climatic constraints, caravan traffic shifts, and the strategic role of Bolgar and Kazan as hubs. The study argues that Tamerlane’s expansion and political consolidation significantly shaped the Silk Road corridor competition by promoting the more secure, northern corridor while maintaining southern connections for diplomatic and religious exchange. | |
