dc.description.abstractThis retrospective study of 148 critically ill stroke patients admitted to a neurocritical care unit in Nur‑Sultan, Kazakhstan, found in‑hospital mortality rates of 36 % for ischemic and 39 % for hemorrhagic stroke (HR 0.88, 95 % CI: 0.48–1.60). Univariable analysis identified low Glasgow Coma Scale, coma, and cerebral edema on admission as predictors of mortality. Multivariable analysis indicated male sex and hemorrhagic stroke showed a trend toward lower mortality risk. Common comorbidities included hypertension, chronic heart failure, ischemic heart disease, and atrial fibrillation.
