The uniaxial compressive strength is a very important parameter in mine design. For weak
rocks such as coal, it is particularly difficult to obtain cores for mechanical testing. Especially for the weak rocks, another possibility of obtaining strength can be slake durability test (SDT) that is quick and inexpensive.
