dc.description.abstract This thesis reports on a phenomenographic inquiry into the English speaking challenges and language learning strategies (LLSs) of eight rural Grade 11 students. According to the Diagnostic Report (2014), Kazakhstan’s 2050 strategy includes the goal of having Kazakhstani youth with sound English, Russian and Kazakh speaking proficiencies by 2025. Nevertheless, many rural secondary school students still encounter diverse challenges in their English speaking performance.... en_US
