dc.description.abstract The main objectives of the capstone project are to implement the design of a chemical plant to satisfy 25% of the estimated demand by 2025 in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and to determine the value of production rate in kt/year with certain purity of salicylic acid. Feasibility studies on existing manufacturing process will be performed to select the most appropriate process in chemical and economical aspects. Moreover, kinetics and thermodynamics of selected reaction will be studied by analyzing chemical and physical properties of substances, providing the proof for the mechanisms of chemical processes. Preliminary mass balance to be performed based on Process Flow Diagram (PFD). Detailed equipment design for major units will be performed. Environmental and safety issues will be analyzed by using HAZOP analysis. en_US
