Abstract

Due to globalization there has been a wide spread of English medium instruction (EMI) across many universities around the world, including Kazakhstan, which offers a variety of benefits both for students and for a country as a whole. In most cases students being taught through EMI report improvement of their English language competency and getting wider opportunities for their future careers and education. However, this issue has not been addressed much in Kazakhstan and there is no research on EMI and how it is perceived by students. Since students are the main stakeholders, it is very important to learn about their views and attitudes towards EMI.
