A Lean Knowledge-Based Decision Support System for Cost Estimation in the Foundry Industry

Abstract

HIGHLIGHTS The development of a knowledge-based system has been presented. The proposed system assists the designer in decision making at planning stage. It supports the foundry process practitioners (using sand casting process) of manufacturing sector of Pakistan. The proposed system is validated through industrial case study under lean environment.
