High Mass-Loading Sulfur-Composite Cathode for Lithium-Sulfur Batteries

Abstract

This study developed a sulfur-polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and carbon nanotube (CNT) composite cathode embedded in multi-layer carbon fiber paper (CFP) current collectors to achieve high sulfur mass loadings up to 5 mg cm−2. The electrode exhibited uniform sulfur distribution, enhanced conductivity, an initial specific capacity of ≈ 1400 mAh g−1, and stable cycling performance due to effective structural integration of CFP and CNT reinforcing networks.,
