Chloroquine and COVID-19: A Light at the End of the Tunnel, or is it Another Train?

Abstract

Over recent decades, viral outbreaks such as Hendra, Nipah, SARS, H1N1, MERS, Zika have impacted localized regions. However, COVID-19 has globally affected health systems and economies. Given its antiviral history and availability, chloroquine gained early attention as a potential COVID-19 therapeutic—yet its efficacy remains unproven.
