Facile Synthesis of Binder-Free Three-Dimensional CuxS Nanoflowers for Lithium Batteries

Abstract

This work reports a one-step, facile method to synthesize three-dimensional CuₓS nanoflower cathodes by immersing copper foam in a solution of sulfur powder dissolved in DMSO. By varying temperature and residence time, Cu₁.₈S and Cu₁.₉₆S compositions were obtained and characterized via X-ray diffraction and SEM-EDS. The binder-free Cu₁.₈S cathode exhibited stable cycling with 100 % Coulombic efficiency and a capacity of ~250 mAh g⁻¹, demonstrating the method’s simplicity and efficacy for high-performance Li-ion battery applications.,
