Recent Advances in the Controlled Release of Growth Factors and Cytokines for Improving Cutaneous Wound Healing

Abstract

Bioengineered materials offer mechanical stability and an ECM-like niche, while protecting growth factors (GFs) and cytokines from protease degradation and enabling sustained bioactivity at wound sites. This mini-review discusses recent advances in single and combinatorial delivery systems using biomaterials to enhance cutaneous wound healing by prolonging drug activity, lowering dosage requirements, eliminating repeated administrations, and reducing side‑effects.,
