Largely tunable dispersion chirped polymer FBG

Abstract

This Letter reports the first experimental demonstration of a largely tunable dispersion chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG) inscribed in a microstructured polymer optical fiber (mPOF). The bandwidth was tailored between 0.11 nm and 4.86 nm, corresponding to a dispersion tuning range from 11.15 ps/nm to 513.6 ps/nm. The authors also show that thermal sensitivity can be exploited to compensate for wavelength shifts induced by applied strain, enhancing device versatility for future optical system applications.
