Item Metadata only 3D intermetallic anodes for Lithium-ion batteries(2018-12-31) Murat, E.; Adi, A.; Bakenov, Z.; Nurpeissova A.; Nurpeissova, A.Abstract Recently various three-dimensional (3D) battery architectures have emerged as a new direction for powering microelectromechanical systems and other small autonomous devices. The ultimate goal of such unique battery architecture is to obtain a high surface area substrate coated with thin layers of anode, electrolyte and cathode materials to enhance the energy density per foot print area, while maintaining a large power density. In view of this, attempts on formulating 3D structured anode utilizing widely available three dimensional mesoporous nickel foam and tin alloy matrix are reportedItem Metadata only Electrodeposited Ni-Sn intermetallic alloy electrode for 3D sulfur battery(2017-01-01) Tolegen, B.; Adi, A.; Aishova, A.; Bakenov, Z.; Nurpeissova, A.; B., TolegenAbstract 3D architecture appeared to be a promising design to enhance the performance of the Lithium-ion batteries by shortening the lithium ion diffusion path and increasing the energy density per unit area. In this paper, we report preliminary results of facile electrodeposition of intermetallic tin-nickel alloy from electrolyte solution onto 3D structured nickel foam for 3D lithium-sulfur battery. The coated films were characterized for their morphologies, structural and electrochemical properties. Scanning electron microscope images revealedthin and homogenous film while XRD revealed the expected phase of intermetallic alloy Ni3Sn4. The electrochemical activity of the film showed to be a promising start to be used as an anode material and needs further works to be optimized.Item Open Access The 1 st year Phd students' career expectations and reasons to choose NUGSE(Nazarbayev University, 2014) Nurpeissova, A.; Almukhambetova, A.; Makhmutova, A.; Soltanbekova, A.; Mukhamejanova, D.; Tolesh, F.; Smanova, G.; Karabassova, L.; Tazabek, Sh.; Jumagulova, T.; Tursunbayeva, X.The Graduate School of Education was launched in 2012. Its PhD program is designed for students, who "are committed to taking a leadership role in educational reform and management in Kazakhstan" (NU website). In 2014 eleven students were selected and offered a state scholarship. Within the course on Advanced Methods of Educational Research, the 1s t year PhD students conducted a small scale research to address two research questions, namely to understand the reasons behind PhD students" desire to pursue post-graduate education at Nazarbayev University, Graduate School of Education (NUGSE), and their career expectations upon the completion of the program.
