Abstract

With a continuous increase in the number of students with disabilities all over the globe, it is crucially important to create a cohesive and supportive environment at universities. Kazakhstan has made a step forward in implementing the principles of equality by ratifying the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, allocating state grants for students with disabilities, and developing the concept of inclusive education. However, the students with disabilities are still underrepresented at universities despite the fact that Kazakhstan is experiencing the similar upward trend in the number of disabled persons. This entails discussions about faculty attitudes, assessment, and educational practices focusing on the provision of accommodations and facilities for students with disabilities.
