Rashitova, Madina2021-01-272021-01-272020-01http://nur.nu.edu.kz/handle/123456789/5237This study is aimed to explore teacher work intensification and work extensification in one of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools (hereinafter NIS) in Kazakhstan. The research work describes NIS teachers’ perspectives of teacher work intensification and work extensification, the factors that teachers associate with longer working hours and the actions that can be taken to reduce work overload. Ipso facto, a qualitative research method is used to conduct the study. The data collection process is done through semi-structured interviews; followed by the analysis and interpretation of the gathered qualitative data. For the individual interviews, the selection of the participants for the one-on-one interviews is based on the non-probabilistic purposive sampling. Gathered data of the study demonstrates how teachers feel about their work intensification and work extensification, what they see as the activities that teachers have to perform during non-contact hours. Moreover, teachers report the presence of work overload that cause problems in relation to their personal and professional lives.
