Nazarbayev University School of Sciences and Humanitieshttp://nur.nu.edu.kz/handle/123456789/7988In Kazakh society, marriage is an important institution that represents cultural norms and societal expectations. But, especially for women in their early marriages, beneath the surface of celebratory ceremonies lurks a complicated tapestry of personal experiences. The complex interaction between expected aspirations and actual experienced realities in Kazakh marriages during the crucial first three years is examined in this capstone research. Through an analysis of conventional gender norms, the shift to parenting, and interactions with in-laws, this study attempts to offer a comprehensive perspective on the difficulties and adaptations that women encounter. The main findings from the qualitative interviews suggested that there are aspects like: relationship with the husband and the in-laws before and after the wedding and transition to parenthood.enAttribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 United StatesWomen in KazakhstanMarriage in KazakhstanKazakh marriagefirst 3 years of marriageyoung motherhoodkazakh traditionsType of access: RestrictedEXPECTATIONS AND REALITY KAZAKH WOMEN FACE IN THE FIRST 3 YEARS OF MARRIAGE?Capstone Project
