Nazarbayev University School of Engineering and Digital Scienceshttp://nur.nu.edu.kz/handle/123456789/7726Modern IoT systems can be exploited by the intruders due to the single-point failure possibility. There are list of methods addressing this issue, the most promising being Blockchain technology. Nevertheless, the integration process of these two technologies is a complicated matter since one technology require features that incompatible with the other one. Most of the presented solutions nowadays are aimed at data manipulation techniques in IoT utilizing blockchain networks. The other direction concerns device manipulation techniques that are targeting at using Blockchain and smart contracts to organize secure and autonomous systems capable of decision-making based on predefined rules, eliminating the need for trusted intermediaries. The proposed solution can be considered as device manipulating solution that attempts to exploit blockchain benefits in device management system while maintaining the data integrity coming from IoT devices. After identifying the scientific gap through literature review, the main parameters and key features of the proposed framework are described as well as the algorithm of the system and the blockchain platform. The integration of an IoT system (sensor modules) is deployed using Ethereum network and Raspberry Pi as blockchain gateway while having laptop as blockchain oracle that feeds off-chain data to the blockchain.enType of access: RestrictedIoT securityblockchainEthereumRaspberry Pidevice manipulationoff-chain data integrityBLOCKCHAIN-BASED IOT SECURITY FRAMEWORKMaster's thesis
