Вопрос ведения библиотечной статистики является важной составляющей деятельности любой библиотеки. Сотрудники читальных залов, службы обслуживания пользователей, информационно-библиографической службы академических, публичных библиотек сталкиваются с большим количеством читательских запросов ежедневно. С этой целью мы стали искать новые методы ведения статистических отчетов.
Безусловно, существуют разные методы ведения библиотечной статистики, одним из которых является он-лайн ресурс Gimlet (http://gimlet.us/). Ресурс является очень интересным с технической точки зрения веб-инструментом для записи данных, подсчета ежедневных консультаций, и сведения в единый отчет проделанной информационно-библиографический помощи пользователям

Одной из важнейших задач вузовских библиотек является информационное обеспечение учебного процесса, расширение перечня информационных услуг в рамках содействия научно- исследовательской работе студентов, магистрантов, докторантов, профессорско-преподавательского состава, научных сотрудников вуза. Решение данной задачи возможно в условиях грамотно выбранной политики комплектования библиотечного фонда, его качественного обновления (1).
В поиске и выборе необходимой литературы для пополнения библиотечного фонда вузовских библиотек огромную помощь может оказать журнал «Сhoice». Он издается с 1964 года Ассоциацией библиотек колледжей и научных библиотек (Association of College & Research Libraries), являющейся подразделением Американской библиотечной ассоциации (American Library Association).

Данный обзор был подготовлен к региональной конференции Ассоциации славянских, восточно-европейских и евразийских исследований совместно с обществом евразийских исследований (http://shss.nu.edu.kz/shss/Events/Conferences/ASEEES-CESS_Info) . Впервые в Казахстане, в мае 2014 года, состоялась конференция такого уровня, где выступали ученые из крупнейших университетов и исследовательских центров мира. Эта была редкая возможность для антропологов, историков послушать их лекции и принять участие в дискуссиях. В рамках конференции была проведена сессия «Библиотечные ресурсы», на которой освещались печатные и электронные ресурсы в помощь исследователям евразийской истории.

Универсальная Десятичная Классификация (далее - УДК) была создана в 1895 г. на базе десятичной классификации Дьюи. Первое издание полных таблиц УДК было опубликовано на французском языке в 1905 г. Структура УДК с течением времени отклонилась от исходной схемы М. Дьюи, но в ряде разделов индексы классов этих систем почти совпадают. В настоящее время данная классификация является интеллектуальной собственностью специально организованного международного Консорциума УДК, объединяющего основных издателей таблиц УДК на разных языках. УДК признается в качестве одной из наиболее используемых библиотечных классификаций в мире, в основном, в странах постсоветского пространства и в некоторых странах Европы.

Впервые библиотеки Соединенных Штатов Америки начали применять предметные рубрики в 1898 г. для описания тематики материалов. На территории России использование предметных рубрик началось с 20-х годов ХХ века. Как правило, библиотеки Казахстана не используют предметные рубрики, а используют предметные (или тематические) ключевые слова для описания тематики материала. In this brief paper author offers a public policy perspective on quality assurance in higher education. Author begins by arguing that there is a growing public interest in quality assurance and offers some reasons for this increased attention. He suggests that the forces and factors that have fostered this greater interest are common to many countries and that this commonality has led to a convergence of the fundamental principles underlying quality assurance in different jurisdictions. "In this paper, we have examined faculty perceptions of the current state of higher
education governance in Kazakhstan. The purpose was to analyse the faculty's opinions and
attitudes towards governance in their institutions. Several conclusions can be drawn from
the findings. The first is that faculty was mostly unsatisfied with their level of involvement
in governance, particularly in terms of the ways in which they communicate with upper

This paper discusses how different strata of a university need to pay heed to the student
experience with data garnered, as appropriate, from a l l levels of sample: international; national;
institutional; departmental and course by course. The strata represent those at the top that
form policies on teaching across the institution, heads of departments, academic staff and all
those involved in helping students learn. It is argued that the student experience provides a
bottom-up perspective on the reputation, values and ultimate success of a university in making
active and future change in individuals. Finally, it discusses the balance between central
systems of improving the student experience versus more devolved schemes such as promoting
professionalism through Action Research initiatives for academic staff. Overall, it recommends
an empirical approach to research which does not exclude teaching practitioners.

This paper addresses some of the characteristics of successful universities the author has
been involved in over the last 25 years across 3 continents.The perspective is personal, oriented to the STEM-based institutions I have largely engaged with and reflects my own instincts for invention, innovation and wealth-creation being the load-bearing structures of contemporary institutions.
The paper considers firstly the environment within which a university operates and the
impact of different student bodies. University branding and the impact disruptive technologies
are addressed, followed by the requirements for success in terms of faculty, leadership and
finance. It ends with a discussion of the role of valorisation in making a 21s t century university a success.

"The aim of this paper is to provide a basis for discussion and debate on definitions,
characteristics and criteria of measurement of a successful university. While the core mission
of universities indisputably remains teaching and research (Shattock 2010), universities in the
21s t century are increasingly called on to assume expanded roles as key players in knowledge
societies and the knowledge economy. As universities take on these diverse roles, it becomes
more difficult to agree on definitions and characteristics of success, and on valid and reliable
criteria for measuring how successful they are. While this issue of defining success and its
characteristics is implicit in many studies of various aspects of higher education, there is
surprisingly little literature directly addressing the issue in a comprehensive and systematic
way. As Shattock (2010: 7) has observed, "we feel instinctively we can recognise successful
universities when we see them", but it can be challenging to provide justification and evidence
for these judgements. This is especially true as universities seek to locate themselves within
global systems, where global measures of certain aspects of success overshadow any other

"This paper presents some practical lessons in leadership and governance learned during
the establishment of Olin College of Engineering in Massachusetts. Olin College embraces
academic freedom and shared governance, but does not offer tenure to faculty members nor does it maintain academic departments. Governance is by a Board of Trustees that includes both Founding Trustees (who provided all initial financing and may serve for life) and others who have fixed term limits. Several topics are examined, including: the continual need for board education in academic culture; avoiding micromanagement by the board on one hand, and disengagement by the board on the other; and the problem of establishing shared values and vision. Leadership is an art, and is vastly different from management. Governance is also an art, requiring patience, wisdom, and a willingness to take reasonable risk in order to achieve world class results. There is no certain formula for success. It is a complex human process requiring constant improvisation, intense commitment and patience, and a healthy measure of good fortune." --

This paper has implied that higher education institutions over the Last 20 years have seen the emergence of different patterns of higher education Leadership in Kazakhstan. In 2010, new and ambitious targets for the development of collegial management in universities in a phased process of granting greater autonomy to universities were clearly formulated in the State Program of Education Development 2011-2020. University Leaders, having professional knowledge of the local features of higher education practices in Kazakhstan, may need to share their expertise and decision-making powers with the Boards of Trustees. In order to carry out the transition from the "state control model" to the "state supervisory model", both the state and universities need to build on the current developments of shared governance and raise institutional standards of accountability.
